Drawing inspiration from my makeshift vanity, I pulled some whimsical items I found to get the look.  Your vanity is one place where being too girly isn’t possible, so why not accentuate your perfume, make up and jewelry with all things fun and feminine?  For me, that means a few Disney details, such as this adorable Jaq & Gus teacup figurine by Jim Shore.  I’m also in love with this darling little vintage plate by Royal Albert – a perfect place for stowing your dainty jewelry.  This glass shadow box from West Elm would make a chic jewelry organizer.  No matter how big or small, mirrors always add depth to a wall, and this mirror by Pentalloca is a really fun shape.  While fresh flowers are wonderful, having at least one faux flower arrangement, like these pink peonies from Inside Avenue, adds a fresh, feminine touch that lasts.

Good morning! There’s something so exciting about refurbishing furniture. When I graduated college and decided I no longer needed this black desk from Ikea, it was placed by my door to be thrown away. But as a new pinner, I had a last minute idea. Convert the desk into something I needed – a vanity!  Gone were the days of oversized sorority tees, nike shorts, ponytails and no makeup. I had a job in fashion, so I needed a place to get ready each morning. $40 and a trip to Home Depot later, and I was equipped for my fIrst furniture DIY.  I absolutely love light blue-green hues, so choosing a paint color was easy – I went with BEHR’s “Balmy Seas”.  In a small apartment, this desk-turned-vanity has been used daily and served as an essential space saver, storing my makeup, excessive jewelry collection and more. It’s also been fun to decorate. I snuck a bit of a Disney Cinderella theme with framed art from the movie and this pretty coffee cup to stow my makeup brushes. You can also see a peek of my wall collage, which features more framed art, like this custom illustration by Carrie Beth Taylor featuring Kendra Scott Earrings – a constant reminder that there’s nothing a tip bun and sunnies can’t fix.  Stay tuned for more details on my room.

URBAN JUNGLE

I love buying separates and mixing and matching for endless, unexpected possibilities. I found both this denim crop top and black and white tribal maxi skirt at Forever 21.  Forever 21 stores can be like a maze, so rather than spending hours sorting through their endless racks of clothing, I often buy online.  At first, I  was apprehensive about the crop top trend, but when paired with something high-waisted like a maxi shorts, I really like the modern meets 50’s look it creates.  As a Disney lover, I do have memorabilia from the animated classics scattered throughout my room, and even in my wardrobe.  Hot Topic (of all places) has an amazing assortment of Disney knick knacks, and when I saw this adorable Snow White necklace (complete with her seven dwarfs), I just couldn’t resist.  Red lipstick is also something I was reluctant to buy into, but I found this amazing, electric shade and I find myself wearing it at least once a week now.
